American Idol Exclusive: A Judge Wines and Dines a Contestant

Hmmm.

Apparently Randy Jackson didn’t learn anything from Paula Abdul’s scandal with Season 2’s Corey Clark because our sources tell us Jackson had dinner with one of Idol’s Top 36 contestants the night before their big audition for the Top 12.

Last Tuesday, the night before the second round of Idol’s Top 36 wannabes performed for a slot in the Top 12, our spies tell us Idol contestant Adam Lambert was spotted at Katsuya having dinner with judge Randy Jackson. Afterward, Lambert hit Hotel Cafe were he was overhead telling people about his little rendezvous.

We’re gonna go out on a limb here and say that is in complete violation of Idol’s fraternization rules.

What might they have been discussing over Albacore with Crispy Onions and Spicy Tuna with Crispy Rice?

Performance tips? Record deals? Song selection? Paula’s craziness? Whatever it was, that is a whole lot of not cool.

Especially since the next night Adam had what we thought was an impressive, if overly Vegas-cheesy, performance. But Randy gushed all over him like Lambert had just invented zero-calorie pizza that comes with a side of sex.

Is somebody playing favorites?

Was Randy’s indiscretion the reason our man, Norman Gentle, failed to make the Top 12?

Something is seriously off, and it ain’t just Paula and her meds.

We know reality TV is completely manipulated but we expected more from Idol.

Bad form, Dawg. Bad form.

UPDATE: Idol and Jackson have acknowledged the encounter with Lambert at Katsuya, but insist the two had only “run into each other” and that was it. Read our latest update of the story here and why we're not having any!

I believe that Adam was

I believe that Adam was better than Norman. Norman was hilarious, but Adam gave a pretty good performance. Even if the discussed song selection, he would not have been able to make it that good by the next night, and if he did then he is a great performer.

boediger

ADAM

IF ADAM DOESNT WIN THIS YEAR, WE HAVE A PROBLEM. THIS GUY IS IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN!!!!
THIS GUY IS SO VERSITILE, I BET HE WOULD BE GREAT IN DRAG ALSO, WITH THAT VOICE. GO ADAM!!!

Stop yelling rumors about Adam!

Yeah even if he did have dinner with Randy that doesn't mean anything. I thought he was the best on group 2 and glad they put him in instead of Norman!!! If Randy was the reason Adam got through it's up to the people that vote now, not the judges. I'd say he has a reallllllly good chance of winning.

GO ADAM!!! =]

He's good...

Adam was brilliant! He was like the best, he should be the next American Idol! I really hope he isn't gay though.., he seems like a kinda nice guy

Hello....photos of Adam are

Hello....photos of Adam are on vote for the worst that answers your question

America IS OUT OF TOUCH

To say Norman was hilarious only shows anyone will pander to stupidity even at it's most window licking levels. Thank goodness that America didnt vote him thru. As for Adam, if Randy gave him any advice it was to completely ignore Simon and revert to his over theatrical stylings. Adam ruined the song and looking at his face is like watching someone who is violently ill and damn near made me feel the same way !!!!

F. Gary Gray's latest effort, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is a knockout! Exhilirating, wry and breathcatchingly paced, it's a stellar accomplishment for everyone involved. Hell yeah you should see it!

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
