The first two singers were eliminated from competition last night on American Idol.
So who had to face the music?
After announcing the new Judges’ Save rule, Idol went straight into cuts and Jasmine Murray and Megan Joy Corkery were the first two singers in jeopardy.
Unfortunately nasal, odd-ball, Amy Winehouse-wannabe Corkery is safe and Jasmine is the first singer on the verge of being sent home from American Idol’s Top 13.
The new judges’ rule makes for a really prickly elimination process. The singer in jeopardy gets to sing one last time while the judges deliberate and then either save them or don’t. And of course no one’s getting saved this early in the competition. Awwwkward.
Jasmine, of course, isn’t saved and gets her walking papers.
She’s not even out of high school. Jasmine will be fine and has a long life and career in front of her.
At least now there won’t be any phone number issues with the whole 13th contestant-phone sex issue.
Since they can’t just cut to the chase, because then the show would be 30 seconds long, Kanye West came out and performed, which is hilarious because we started wondering to ourselves, “If he was a contestant, would we vote for him?”
The answer was "No".
Cue Carrie Underwood, "Kanye is going home tonight."
The next two singers facing elimination, not surprisingly, are Anoop Desai and Jorge Nunez.
But first, the OG, true blue American Idol, our fave, Kelly Clarkson took the stage to perform our jam “My Life Would Suck Without You.” Everything about Kelly makes us happy! We so wish she was our friend. Then we could drive around singing along with her to her own songs. That would be awesome. Can we get a what what on the live version of “Beautiful Distaster”?
One thing was certain in our head watching Kelly: Allison better effin’ win this season or we’re going to be super pissed.
But back to the Anoop/ Jorge saga.
Sadly, it looks like Jorge will have to suffer with those eyebrows for a while longer. He’s going home.
And then there were 11.
Until next week, the Sauce: Out.
