Simpson and Egglesfield Canned from Melrose Place

Boy, do we miss the old Melrose Place. When a castmember wasn't quite working out, they blew them up, or drowned them in the pool, or whatever. And they definitely did not send out a press release about it three months in advance.

In January, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Colin Egglesfield are being released from Melrose Place at the end of the current storyline. Egglesfield, at least, was caught off guard. When asked about it on Thursday he said: "I've had better days, to be quite honest."

Simpson-Wentz was a little more cheeful about the news. She said: "Having the chance to play Violet on Melrose Place has been a thrill. Although I always knew her story would come to a final, insanely unpredictable end, playing a creepy, unstable character was something I always wanted to do, so I jumped at the chance."
