The 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees were announced by Angela Bassett and Eric McCormack (remember him from Will and Grace?) this morning at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood with Doubt leading the pack with five nominations.
Of course it does. When we were watching that play on screen (because we refuse to call it a movie since it isn’t one), we kept thinking, “This is just actor masturbation.” Meryl Streep pulling a Pacino, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams emoting all over the place, Viola Davis with her snotty nose (seriously, we almost gagged watching her lick her lips which were wet with mucus), the whole thing screams, “Acting Master Class!!!”
Heath Ledger secured another nomination and presumed win for his role in The Dark Knight, Kate Winslet locked down two nods for both Revolutionary Road and The Reader and this year’s Lifetime Achievement award will be given to James Earl Jones, the best voice in the business.

Apologies to Heath Ledger, who will clearly (and deservedly) dominate the awards season as the Joker, but I wish Robert Downey jr could win SOMETHING for his hilarious and never-before-never-again turn in Tropic Thunder. Are we ever going to see such a racist joke done so well ever again? i laugh my ass off every time he is on screen in that movie!! Give the man some love!
