Tribeca Film Festival Prize Winners

The Tribeca Film Festival handed out this year’s honors on Thursday.

This year’s panel of jurors for Robert De Niro’s signature film festival included Meg Ryan, Uma Thurman, Mary-Kate Olsen and Whoopi Goldberg.

Top honors went to the Iranian film About Elly from director Asghar Farhadi.

The festival’s audience award winner will be announced on Saturday evening.

This year’s honorees, including Elia Kazan’s granddaughter, Zoe, who was honored as best actress, include:

Best Actor - Ciaran Hinds (The Eclipse)
Best Actress - Zoe Kazan (The Exploding Girl)
Best Feature Film - About Elly
Best Feature Documentary - Racing Dreams
Best Narrative - Here and There
Best Documentary - Partly Private
Best New Narrative Filmmaker - Rune Denstad Langlo (North)
Best New Documentary Filmmaker - Ian Olds (Fixer: The Taking of Ajmal Naqshbandi)

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
