Kristi Yamaguchi Wins DWTS

May 21, 2008 at 8:39am PST

For the first time in Dancing with the Stars history, a woman has won the famed mirrored disco ball trophy.

Olympic ice princess Kristi Yamaguchi, 36, and her partner Mark Ballas were crowned the winners of this season’s DWTS, beating out Edyta Sliwinska and super smokeshow, Miami Dolphins football star, Jason Taylor.

Could that man be any more stunning? No!

Our sources have told us for months that the producers of DWTS were hell bent on ensuring a woman won this season, fearing another male victory would cause major a backlash.

They never had a thing to worry about.

Kristi made a career of triple lutz-triple toe loop jumps performed on skates with a blade that’s 3/16ths of an inch thick. Anyone who does that is gonna bust out a mean Rumba.

We know Kristi is an Ice Queen, but her lack of enthusiasm at the win was a bit off-putting. Mark Ballas was uncontainably thrilled and it was charming. Kristi’s lukewarm reaction felt so anti-climactic.

Oh well, we guess you can’t blame the girl for knowing she had that bad boy wrapped up. Speaking of boys, can we just say again how much we enjoyed watching Jason Taylor? The Miami Dolphins have a loyal new fan.

Congratulations Kristi and Mark!

Woman and winning

Kristie Yamaguchi is not the first woman to win DACING WITH THE STARS. Kelly Monico was the first to do so in the very first season. She may have been the first to lead most of the way but clearly not the first woman that won the show. I have watched every year you have been on and LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the show. SO PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THE SHOW..................................

F. Gary Gray's latest effort, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is a knockout! Exhilirating, wry and breathcatchingly paced, it's a stellar accomplishment for everyone involved. Hell yeah you should see it!

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
