Ed McMahon Dies

Ed McMahon, the longtime Johnny Carson sidekick whose catch phrase, “Heeeeeeere’s Johnny,” made television history has died.

McMahon, 86, passed away shortly after midnight at the Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center where he has been hospitalized since February with pneumonia and other medical issues.

He hosted several variety shows including Star Search (1983-1995), but he is best known for co-hosting The Tonight Show alongside Johnny Carson from 1962-1992.

McMahon, 'The World’s Greatest Second Banana,' according to Entertainment Weekly will be missed and is survived by his wife of 16 years and their five children.
