Maura Tierney, 44, will undergo surgery for a breast tumor.
The actress who made her name on NBC’s ER as Abby Lockheart spoke out in a press release from NBC Universal announcing that Tierney was ill and that her treatment would delay the production of her new series, Parenthood, previously scheduled to premiere Sept. 23, but now pushed to mid-season.
"I have discovered a tumor in my breast that requires surgery. I will not know either my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed. My doctors have all assured me this is a very treatable condition," Tierney said.
"I'm very optimistic as to the outcome and want to thank everyone who has sent positive thoughts and support. I look forward to going back to work soon," said the actress.
You're in our prayers, Maura.
