In Johnny Depp’s recent Vanity Fair article, he talks about his own private island, Little Hall’s Pond Cay, located in the Bahamas, which features six different beaches.
Johnny shared, “I don’t think I’d ever seen any place so pure and beautiful. You can feel your pulse rate drop about 20 beats. It’s instant freedom. And that rare beast—simplicity—can be had. And a little morsel of anonymity. Whenever I was getting frustrated about being ‘novelty boy’ and making movies, I told myself, ‘Calm down. I can come down here and disappear.’ I spent the Christmas season here with Vanessa and the kids. You can feed hot dogs to the nurse sharks in the Exumas — but it’s best to not swim when doing it.”
The beaches are named after important people in Depp’s life – his girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis, their two children, Lily Rose and Jack, and his mentors Marlon Brando and Hunter S. Thompson.
Depp will star in the film adaptation of Thompson’s first novel, The Rum Diary, which is due out in 2010.
Also, Johnny dedicated a patch of sand to the late Heath Ledger, calling it “Heath’s Place.”
Depp along with Jude Law and Colin Farrell stepped in to help finish Ledger’s final film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which recently debuted at the Cannes Film Festival at the end of last month.
Must be nice to have your own island. Still, seems like a true act of kindness. We approve.
