Doesn’t Diane English Have Any Ideas of Her Own?

Diane English isn’t content simply demolishing film classics, now she wants to destroy Erica Jong’s infamously controversial 1973 novel Fear of Flying, a book legendary for sparking a new level of feminism, female sexuality and coining the phrase (and practice) of “the zipless f—k,” a sexual encounter had without emotional attachments strictly for the sake of enjoyment.

Apparently English has already adapted (aka: mangled if it’s anything like her “adaptation” of The Women) the 1973 bestseller, about a married unpublished poet indulging her sexual fantasies on a trip to Vienna, for the big screen and says, “I would love to see Kate Winslet in that role.”

Lord have mercy, say it ain’t so! Run, Kate, run. Don’t let her do to you what she just did to Annette Bening. Previously, Maggie Gyllenhaal was a front runner for the role. She might have dodged a major career bullet now that English’s sights are on Winslet.

Diane English needs to be locked in a padded room, without any writing utensils, actors or cameras, for her safety and the safety of others.

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
