At 4:30 last Saturday, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard exchanged vows inside the cloister of a convent called the Convento di Santa Maria di Costantinopoli, a luxury bed and breakfast in Brindisi, Italy.
The ceremony was attended by just 40 close friends and family members, including the bride’s brother, Jake Gyllenhaal, and his girlfriend, Reese Witherspoon, and was officiated by a family friend.
After the ceremony, guests mingled in the convent’s garden before a chef and his team, who brought a special kitchen to the convent in order to accommodate the banquet, prepared a beautiful sit down dinner. Glasses were filled with Castel di Salve wines from a winery in the nearby town of Lecce and a traditional Italian music group performed songs like, “Tu Si Na Cosa Bella Pe Me” (Translation: “You Are a Beautiful Thing for Me”).
