Michael Phelps on SNL: Our Reaction

Everyone knows we love Mikey Phelps more than our own Grandmammy so we say this with a tremendous amount of affection…

His Saturday Night Live sucked!

Michael was stiff, awkward and literally a fish out of water, the sketches fell flat and the entire cast seemed completely rusty coming off of the hiatus. Seth Meyers’ Weekend Update performance was one of the few that actually made us laugh and, of course, Tina Fey was brilliant during the opening but the rest of the cast looked like they had a three-month long hangover that precluded them from writing or performing anything resembling comedy. The low point of the night came with Andy Samberg’s Digital Short which was absolutely god-awful! Where’s Justin Timberlake when you need him?

It wasn’t all Mikey’s fault but his handlers NEVER should have allowed him to perform on the show. That’s like throwing pregnant Amy Poehler into the deep end of The Water Cube and telling her to flutter kick to the end and back in under a minute. Add a cast severely off their game and you have one of the worst episodes of SNL in a long time.

Oh Mikey, we wanted better for you.

To promote his new film Yes Man, Jim Carrey appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman last night to deliver a Top Ten List of things he'll always say yes to (and did a way better job than Tom Cruise the night before). Who wouldn't say yes to bath time with Larry King?

How the hell do they expect us to wait until May 1st, 2009 when they release a trailer this bitchin' now? Those dirty teases. Though the glimpse of RyRy Reynolds' Deadpool is brief, it's mighty enjoyable, as is the prospect of two hours with Friday Night Lights' Taylor Kitsch as Gambit, Liev Schrieber as Sabretooth and, of course, Hugh Jack-ed up Jackman as Wolverine. This movie looks aaaaawesome!
