Hospital Was a 'Nightmare' for Mischa Barton

O.C. star Mischa Barton has spoken for the first time about being hospitalized this summer in Los Angeles and being held under involuntary psychiatric hold.

In an interview with Time Out New York she said: "Here's what happened: Before the show started, I was traveling abroad for contract stuff and I went through a terrible surgery--a wisdom tooth surgery, all four removed. It was a nightmare.  It all went wrong and I had to have a second surgery and it almost delayed shooting because it was a nightmare to me, because I couldn't deal with the thought of not getting there on time. So with the travel, and surgery and prep for the show--it was hell."

Barton is starring this fall in The Beautiful Life on the CW, which is produced by Ashton Kutcher.  Rumors were that she had a nervous breakdown and that the network was looking to replace her (reps for The CW denied this, of course).  She also wasn't in new promotional materials, but the network claimed that nothing should be read into that.

So did she have a nervous breakdown or what?  Here's what she said:

"I don't know. I don't know. I had a friend who had a quasi-nervous breakdown, but I'm not sure it's the same this.  I'm not sure I'm capable of a full-on nervous breakdown, but it was pretty bad. It didn't last that long. It was more about the pain. I have a newfound respect for people who have chronic pain. I started getting migraines.

We guess we'll have to just wait and see.  The show premieres on September 16th.

F. Gary Gray's latest effort, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is a knockout! Exhilirating, wry and breathcatchingly paced, it's a stellar accomplishment for everyone involved. Hell yeah you should see it!

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
