We know it seemed like the big film awards show season just ended (Don't forget the Emmy Awards tonight!), but there's already a new Best Picture favorite.
Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire, which won the Grand Jury Prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival, has also won the Audience Choice Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. That's the same award that this year's Best Picture winner at the Acdemy Awards, Slumdog Millionaire, won last year.
Directed by Lee Daniels and written by Damien Paul, the film tells the story of Precious Jones, played by Gabourey "Gabby" Sidibe, a young girl in Harlem struggling to overcome tremendous obstacles and discover her own voice.
Watch out, Oscar. Precious is coming to get you.
