Starlets are Firing Stylists

Rachel Zoe may be joining the ranks of jobless Americans pretty soon.

The Observer observes (tee hee) a recent trend in Hollywood of stars ditching those money-grubbing stylists and going directly to the designers instead.

Reportedly stars including Chloë Sevigny, Alexa Chung, Kristen Dunst, Natalie Portman, and Sarah Jessica Parker all avoid stylists and choose their own clothes instead.

Still, all those ladies are known for their sense of style. What about the less fashionably adept out there?

Gossip Girl's Blake Lively is another stylist-free starlet:

“She’s the one that looked like a mess in that Nina Ricci dress at the Golden Globes!” snarked celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch to the Observer. “This is why you need a stylist. If you go to a designer, their goal is to get you out the door and on the red carpet in their gown come hell or high water. They’re never going to say, ‘This just might not be right for you.’”

“It used to be that none of the designers even knew the celebrities. The only real designers that had a presence in Hollywood were Versace and Armani,” continued Mr. Bloch, who began working in the early ’90s. “We became the liaisons. Then as time progressed and everyone got greedier, they want to cut out the middle person.”

Clearly he is not one bit biased. It's not necessarily greed- stylists are an unnecessary luxury. Times like these call for some budget cuts. Sorry, stylists. But you can stick around as long as you don't turn all of your clients into tanorexic boho clones, a la the Rachel Zoe tyranny of 2005.

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
