MTV appears to be smitten with hosts imported from the UK. Alexa Chung moved across the pond to host It's On during weekdays, and now Russell Brand has been invited to host the Video Music Awards again, making him the first to do so two consecutive years.

Last year, the controversial comedian raised a big ol' hoopla by repeatedly making jabs at the Jonas Brothers and mocking their purity rings.

MTV's General Manager told Us Weekly:

"We are thrilled that despite numerous death threats from Jonas Brothers fans, Russell Brand has accepted our offer to put his life on the line and host the VMAs again this year."

Brand, who stars in the upcoming sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, promises more fireworks: "It's gonna be mind-blowing... get ready. I don't know if you're wearing a hat, but if you are, you should hold on to it."

He added: "This year will be a controversy-free festival of love and discrete orgasms."

We detect a note of sarcasm here. ...

Weird politics: Hold on, did he just say that?

What do people think? Is it pricey?

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
