The Hurt Locker has toppled Avatar at another award show! This time it was the BAFTAs this weekend, Britain's equivalent of our Oscars.
The BAFTA nominations came out today. You know, the the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards, aka, the British Academy Awards. No, you didn't know? Well, take our word for it.
We wonder if she'll wear Prada to the ceremony.
The Devil Wears Prada star Emily Blunt will be honored as this year's British Artist of the Year at the 2009 BAFTA/LA Brittania Awards in November.
"Emily continuously demonstrates an impressive range in her performances and with each movie solidifies her status as one of the best actresses of her generation," said Peter Morris, the BAFTA/LA chairman.
Is anyone else suffering from award season fatigue or is it just us?
Last night the BAFTA Awards were announced and, as usual, it was a parade of every winner we’ve seen all year. We can practically recite them in our sleep.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past three months, the winners (again) were:
Best Film: Slumdog Millionaire
Best Director: Danny Boyle, Slumdog Millionaire
Leading Actor: Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler
Leading Actress: Kate Winslet, The Reader
The BAFTA Awards, the British equivalent of the Oscars, announced this years’ nominees and our fave, Slumdog Millionaire, got mad love with eleven nominations including one for our boy Dev Patel as Best Actor.
Kate Winslet was bestowed a double nomination once again for The Reader and Revolutionary Road, and so was Brad Pitt who got the nod for both The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Burn After Reading.
