Bandslam star Vanessa Hudgens said she is playing a "darker" character in her new film that people aren't used to seeing her play.

The 20-year-old, famous for her role as Gabriella in Disney film trilogy High School Musical, is playing the character of Sam in new film Bandslam and she said it's a different role than she's used to.

Alyson Michalka, known to just about anyone under the age of 18 as Aly, Disney Channel star and one half of the sister act musical duo, 78violet (formerly Aly and AJ), wants to rock you. Her two latest projects, the feature film Bandslam, opening August 14th, and a new untitled album hitting stores in the fall, are all about a stronger, more mature Aly.

Vanessa Hudgens is stripping her clothes off…again. And apparently, she's really excited about it.

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens arrived at a Bandslam Reel Thinking event at The Grammy Museum at LA Live in Downtown Los Angeles Friday afternoon.

Hudgens, along with her Bandslam costars Aly Michalka and Gaelan Connell, hosted the event.
