Before her double mastectomy surgery, Christina Applegate posed for her “first and last nude photoshoot at home” so she could say goodbye to her breasts. Applegate revealed the details of the private ceremony to Oprah saying, “I made sure that I'd have close-up photographs of them from every angle, so I can kind of remember them.” That gives the phrase “Take a picture, it’ll last longer” a sad new significance.
Christina Applegate recently sat down with Oprah to discuss her battle with and recovery from breast cancer. The Emmy nominated Samantha Who? actress was incredibly candid with The All Mighty O, especially when talking about her decision to have a double mastectomy.
“I was just gonna let them go” she said of her breasts. “And then, when I met with my doctor and I told him my decision, he brought the surgeon in, and it was like the floodgates just opened up, and I lost it.”
Christina Applegate, 36, has revealed incredibly personal details of her treatment after successfully battling breast cancer. Applegate announced she had both breasts removed following her diagnosis with the deadly illness last month, a choice that left her cancer-free.
After testing positive for the breast cancer gene, Applegate opted for a bilateral mastectomy to significantly reduce the risk of the disease returning and eliminating the need for radiation or chemotherapy treatment.
Sex and the City star, Cynthia Nixon, revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago during her appearance on Good Morning America. Both Nixon’s mother and grandmother battled breast cancer. “As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, knowing my personal risk made me more aware and more empowered when I faced my own diagnosis,” Nixon said.
Nixon underwent surgery and treatment and is now fully recovered.
