The star of one of TV's most popular new shows is fighting something much scarier than gladiators.
Andy Whitfield, who plays Spartacus in the Starz drama Spartacus: Blood and Sand, has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and is seeking treatment in New Zealand, where the show films.
Production on the second season of the show has been postponed. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Andy,” the president of Starz has said. “His health, of course, is our primary concern. He has our complete support during this difficult time.”
Sad news today. Dexter star Michael C. Hall has been diagnosed with cancer.
He released a statement that said that he's "on the road to completing what has been a successful treatment for Hodgkin's Lymphona."
Actress and Author Suzanne Somers has said that Patrick Swayze died because of his chemotherapy, not, uh, pancreatic cancer.
We are devastated to hear that Patrick Swayze has lost his battle with cancer. He passed away on Monday. He was fifty-seven, and clearly went way before his time.
Maura Tierney, 44, will undergo surgery for a breast tumor.
The actress who made her name on NBC’s ER as Abby Lockheart spoke out in a press release from NBC Universal announcing that Tierney was ill and that her treatment would delay the production of her new series, Parenthood, previously scheduled to premiere Sept. 23, but now pushed to mid-season.
Cancer-stricken Patrick Swayze is still battling the effects of his dramatic illness.
New photographs (similar to this one taken in May) of the actor at his New Mexico ranch have surfaced.
They show Swayze in a cowboy hat, jeans and jacket, near his pick-up truck, smiling and very active.
Swayze's cop show, The Beast, was cancelled two days before the photos. It ran for just one season.
Actress Farrah Fawcett, 62, who became one of the best known faces in Hollywood for her 1970s role in Charlie’s Angels, died earlier today, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Her long-time partner, Ryan O’Neal, father of her son, Redmond O'Neal, released the following statement:
Farrah Fawcett was recently hospitalized and placed in the intensive care unit.
Her partner, Ryan O’Neal and other family members and friends have reportedly gathered to say their final goodbyes.
Ethan Zohn is hoping to be a real life survivor.
The soccer player, who outwitted, outplayed and outlasted the competition to win Survivor: Africa, is battling cancer.
On April 30th, Zohn, 35, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After months of unexplained itching and night sweats, which were originally thought to be a skin condition, doctors discovered a swollen lymph node under his left clavicle.
Almost 9 million people watched Farrah's Story, the documentary about actress Farrah Fawcett's life and struggle with cancer, on NBC this past Friday night.
Based on the positive reception and Fawcett's own wishes, it has been announced that another special will be produced soon.
“We haven’t stopped filming, and we’re going to make a second installment on her life,” Farrah's longtime companion, Ryan O'Neal, told Meredith Vieira on the Today show this morning.
