It's been a bad summer for celebrity mortality.
Walter Cronkite, the face of the CBS Evening News for over 19 years, died in New York yesterday.
In a statement, President Obama praised the iconic TV news anchor, saying he "was someone we could trust to guide us through the most important issues of the day; a voice of certainty in an uncertain world. He was family. He invited us to believe in him, and he never let us down."
Our hearts go out to his family.
And that's the way it is...
Yesterday, The Wall Street Journal reported Katie Couric might leave her position as anchor of the CBS Evening News, as early as the beginning of next year.
Today, The New York Times is saying she may only have two weeks to pack her stuff and hit the bricks.
Some of Ms. Couric’s friends have described her as miserable, while others say she has adopted a stoic reaction to what has happened.
Another associate said Ms. Couric would hardly have to worry about a new job, no matter what happens at CBS. “She’d have a job in five minutes,” the associate said.
Katie Couric is kicking herself for leaving the Today show.
