The father of the youngest girl from Slumdog Millionaire, Rubina Ali, was arrested last night after he reportedly tried to sell his daughter for several hundred thousand dollars.

The police were notified of his plan by his ex-wife.

Ali’s father, Rafiq Qureshi, 36, is allegedly trying to cash in on his daughter’s success playing little Latika in the Oscar-winning film.

Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle took his Indian cast, in town for the Oscars, to the Santa Monica Pier on Tuesday for fun and games.

Who cares about your eight Oscars when there’s Skee Ball and bumper cars to be had?

Madhur Mittal, who plays Salim, the older brother of Dev Patel’s Jamal, was seen beaming ear-to-ear and clutching his teddy bear booty.

Adorable.

Slumdog Millionaire cleaned up at the Academy Awards, winning eight of the ten awards it was nominated for. Milk's star and writer were also lauded while The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which had the most nods going into the night, twelve in total, but was only recognized for its visual and technical achievements.

When Hugh Jackman took the stage at last night’s Oscars, we were skeptical. But Wolverine delivered!

Performing on the most beautiful Oscar stage we’ve ever seen, Hugh slipped into a low-budget song and dance number that was the best opening the Oscars have had since the Billy Crystal years.

The producer’s decision to “downsize” the show because of the recession ended up inspiring the most creative, funny, well-executed kick off the show has had in recent memory.

Award Season continues and Slumdog Millionaire carries on its march to the Oscars.

Danny Boyle got the top prize at last night's Directors Guild of America for his work on Millionaire. This is a good sign for Boyle, as the winner of the DGA Award usually goes on to win the Oscar for Best Director.

Congrats to Boyle! He definitely deserves it.

In case you were keeping score, need to settle a bet or had a Golden Globes pool, here's a complete list of last night's winners in the order the awards were handed out.

Let's get the painful worst out of the way first so we can end this year on the high note of what was great.

Worst
1. Hounddog
A terribly written, amateurishly directed, horrendously acted, self-important parable about lost innocence rife with Adam and Eve symbolism; the film’s major claim to fame is the rape of 12-year-old Dakota Fanning. To call it offensively bad is to be kind.

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association announced their picks for this year’s best last night. Heath Ledger continued his sweep, which will undoubtedly lead all the way to the Oscars, while Sean Penn edged out PR darling (though far inferior competitor) Mickey Rourke, and Danny Boyle sailed along on his well-deserved road of triumph.

The LAFCA winners included…

We hope this sparks a trend that carries through to the Oscars.

The best film we’ve seen all year, Slumdog Millionaire, was the big winner at last night’s British Independent Film Awards in London.

F. Gary Gray's latest effort, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is a knockout! Exhilirating, wry and breathcatchingly paced, it's a stellar accomplishment for everyone involved. Hell yeah you should see it!

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
