Leaving the stars, and the audience in anxious anticipation, DWTS was all about filler last night.
First up, the competition for a new pro entered its final stage with Mayo being paired with Kym Johnson while Anna was with Maks. Our least favorite wannabe new pro, Afton, got the boot last week.
This week the new wannabe pro had to deliver a performance that was a test of their choreography skills.
Melissa and Tony were invited back to dance their perfect 30 scoring Samba. And, this time, Melissa’s boob stayed tucked away.
The first safe couple is Gilles and Cheryl, followed by Melissa and Tony.
This week the new wannabe pros were paired with a previous star to see if they can teach as well as they can dance.
This season is far and away the most uniformly talented and loveable cast ever to appear on Dancing with the Stars.
As the finals quickly approach, the competition becomes more fierce and the eliminations more painful.
This week on Dancing with the Stars, the encore requested by the judges was the mod, Austin Powers-y group dance. Watching the group perform together is always the best because it’s a level playing field where you can see who rises and who stumbles.
Lawrence and Ty are obviously the weak links in the chain while Melissa can’t be distinguished from the pro girls.
The first safe couple announced is Chuck and Julianne followed by Melissa and Tony and Shawn and Mark.
This week the judges invited Li’l Kim and Derek to encore their Jailhouse Rock Jive, the dance that took them to the top of the leader board for the first time this season.
The first filler performance of the night was the cast of West Side Story performing “America” and doing a little something called being a triple threat before the first safe couples were announced.
Li’l Kim and Derek are the first safe couple followed by Lawrence and Edyta.
Frankie Avalon kicked off last night’s American Idol results show by singing “Venus,” his hit from 1959, the year Simon Cowell was born. We wonder why it wasn’t a song from the year Paula was born. We can just imagine the fit she’d throw. She pays good money to maintain some semblance of youth.
After Tuesday’s show, we predicted we’d see Lil Rounds, Scott and Danny in the bottom three.
We were right about two out of the three.
Last night on Dancing with the Stars, the judges invited back their first couple of the season for an encore and, of course, they chose Gilles and Cheryl, the first couple to receive a perfect score, and very early in the season.
Since two couples were going home this week, there was no dance off, just the pressure of the bottom three, instead of two.
The first safe couple, “no surprise here” said Tom Bergeron, “Gilles and Cheryl.” Joining them, Lawrence and Edtya.
The first couple in the bottom also wasn’t a surprise, Holly and Dmitry.
Last night, Dancing with the Stars had the best group dance to the best performance we’ve ever seen on the show.
Hall and Oates (yeah, Hall and Oates) took the stage to perform their megahit “Maneater” (that’s our jam!) while Karina, Dmitry, Tony and Maks did an 80s inspired, Flashdance-esque group dance that was brillz.
Karina and her Ogilvy home perm were killing it and at the end of the dance, she and Maks came in for an almost kiss that was both very sexy and totally sweet. We audibly awww-ed.
But now for who stays and who goes.
