Zac Efron's making his first foray into the world of "serious acting" next month when his new movie Me and Orson Welles comes out, and apparently he's happy with the results.

He told Nylon for Guys as much. He says: "It’s the first time I’ve ever watched a movie [that I’m in] and in the end I’m like, ‘OK! I didn’t check my watch once!'"

Bandslam star Vanessa Hudgens said she is playing a "darker" character in her new film that people aren't used to seeing her play.

The 20-year-old, famous for her role as Gabriella in Disney film trilogy High School Musical, is playing the character of Sam in new film Bandslam and she said it's a different role than she's used to.

Even when made out of wax, our Zac-y Pooh is the most popular kid in school.

High School Musical star Zac Efron is the most-kissed waxwork at Madame Tussauds in London.

The 21-year-old idol came first in a poll of 300 people, which was carried out by the famous waxworks museum to see which celebrity waxwork figure visitors most wanted to kiss.

"We encourage our guests to get really up close and personal with our celebrities and there is a lot of puckering up," said the museum's PR manager Liz Edwards.

Speaking of stars wanting to avoid being pigeon-holed...

We've already discussed how Zac Efron is trying to shed his High School Musical image to get more diverse work, part of which was dropping out the forthcoming Footloose remake.

Now rumors are swirling that Zac-y Pooh's being encouraged to drop his girlfriend, fellow Disney-star Vanessa Hudgens, because their relationship reminds people too much of HSM.

We were afraid this would happen.

Paramount Pictures confirmed yesterday that Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford will be starring in High School Musical director Kenny Ortega's remake of Footloose, which was originally supposed to feature Zac Efron.

Like we've already said: We love Chace on GG but he is no Zac-y Pooh or Kevin Bacon, and we're not sure he can do Ren McCormack justice.

Vanessa Hudgens is only 20 and she’s already dealing with the age old Hollywood question: “When will we see your boobies onscreen?”

And we’re not talking about a repeat of the nude photo leak snafu.

She tells Eonline.com, “I will show nudity in a film when the time is right.

“Right now, I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it, but if it’s an amazing movie that I’m really passionate about and that’s what it calls for, then we’ll see.”

Why are people already clamoring to see a 20-year-old Disney star naked (again)?

Hot, sweaty, shirtless Zac Efron.

Thus begins 17 Again, Zac Efron’s coming out party as a leading man.

It takes the opening of High School Musical 3 and kicks it up the notches necessary to ratchet Efron’s stardom from the tween set to the Cougar den.

17 Again, written by Jason Filardi (Bringing Down the House) and directed by Burr Steers (Igby Goes Down), follows a genre both beloved and familiar to children of the 80s.

F. Gary Gray's latest effort, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is a knockout! Exhilirating, wry and breathcatchingly paced, it's a stellar accomplishment for everyone involved. Hell yeah you should see it!

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
