We were afraid this would happen.

Paramount Pictures confirmed yesterday that Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford will be starring in High School Musical director Kenny Ortega's remake of Footloose, which was originally supposed to feature Zac Efron.

Like we've already said: We love Chace on GG but he is no Zac-y Pooh or Kevin Bacon, and we're not sure he can do Ren McCormack justice.

Last night we went to a movie with our dear friends John, Heidi and Jenny.

But it wasn’t just any movie…it was Dirty Dancing, on the big screen!

We're seeing Zac next week and we plan on having a very serious convo about a new report that he's pulled out of Footloose.

According to inside sources, Zac told the studio last week that he doesn't want to do another musical at this point in his career for fear he'll be pigeon-holed.

Where Zac Efron goes, people follow.

Wearing a white v-neck t-shirt, charcoal grey blazer and relaxed jeans, in person, Efron is smaller and more delicate than one might suspect, but he’s also unpredictably handsome, a rarity for celebrities who tend to tarnish away from the glow of carefully designed illumination.

This is coming out of the British press so we’re taking it with a grain of salt, but some reports claim Zac Efron has signed on to appear in Pirates of the Caribbean 4.

Here’s why we believe it: That keeps Efron in the Disney fold, and they love holding on to their prized cash cows.

While High School Musical cast members Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens (aka: the important ones) have adamantly said they will NOT be reprising their roles in the phenomenally successful franchise now that Senior Year is complete, director Kenny Ortega admits he has a few more ideas and hopes they might be convinced to stick around for one last hoorah.

We thought that’s what HSM3 was.

At last Sunday’s High School Musical 3 press junket, Kenny Ortega had some thrilling news.

When asked about a Footloose update with Zac Efron is Kevin Bacon’s dancing shoes and Kenny in the director’s chair, Ortega said there’s “a real good chance” the adaptation will soon be underway.

Newsweek: Are you really on the set of High School Musical 3?
Vanessa Hudgens:
I'm in San Francisco. Part of the movie is shot at Stanford. I get accepted.

NW: Will there be High School Musical: The College Years?
VH: Not for us. We're pretty much done, I think.

NW: HSM director Kenny Ortega once told me you and Zac Efron started dating on the first High School Musical, and I don't think I've ever heard that story.
VH: And I'm going to keep it that way.

Good Morning America went behind the scenes on the set of High School Musical 3 this morning.

We can barely contain ourselves!

Our Zac was as charming as ever discussing the phenomenon that is HSM with interviewer Chris Connelly, “You wake up one day and you’re just…cool. I’m not different, at all, than I’ve ever been. I don’t know what changed.”

F. Gary Gray's latest effort, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is a knockout! Exhilirating, wry and breathcatchingly paced, it's a stellar accomplishment for everyone involved. Hell yeah you should see it!

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
