Matt Lauer

Meredith Baxter, our favorite mom from Family Ties, was spotted on a lesbian cruise last week, but before becoming tabloid fodder, she decided to set the record, uh, straight herself.

She told Matt Lauer on the Today show this morning: “I am a lesbian and it was a later-in-life recognition."

Zac Efron sat down with Matt Lauer on the Today Show this morning, and of course, Kathie Lee decided to come out and make it ALL about her.

In case you missed it, Zac appeared in an SNL sketch this weekend where Kristen Wiig played a lushed-out Kathie Lee and Zac was her beloved, super peppy “singer” son, Cody.

You know Cody, the one she’s been constantly harping on for the last 19 years.

Following in Lance Armstrong's gimpy footsteps, Matt Lauer took a major spill over the weekend on his bike while riding on Long Island and is now laid up and awaiting surgery.

Lauer "was riding his bike over the weekend and he had a run-in with a deer," his Today Show co-host Meredith Vieira explained. "He joked in an email that he thought the deer was hired by the competition."

Michael Phelps sat down with Matt Lauer on the Today Show this morning to discuss what Matt called the “now infamous” photo of Mikey smoking pot.

The gravity Lauer gave the incident was almost disturbing, asking questions like:

“Did you start to think how damaging this was to you and your career?”

Tom Cruise is continuing his campaign to re-ingratiate himself into the hearts and minds of the fans he turned off back in his couch jumping days.

He repented on Today with Matt Lauer and Tuesday night he made a good-humored appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman to deliver a Top Ten List about the craziest things written about him on the internet.

Tom’s personal favorite was Number Four which had him doubling over with laughter.

Three and a half years since Matt Lauer and Tom Cruise came to verbal blows on the Today Show over the use of anti-depression medication (“You’re glib, Matt”), they sat down again this morning.

“This is not a rematch,” Lauer was quick to say. “This is not Rocky II.”

Indeed, it wasn’t.

In fact, these two were so patty-cake nicey-nice, we expected them to start giving each other reach-arounds.

Tom Cruise and Matt Lauer appear to have buried the hatchet and not in each other’s backs.

Tom made a surprise appearance at Matt Lauer's Friar's Club Roast in New York on Friday, three years after the pair clashed during an interview when the topic turned to psychiatry and antidepressant drug on the Today Show.

Angelina Jolie appeared on the Today Show to promote her new film Changeling this morning when Matt Lauer asked if she would consider adopting again after giving birth to twins Knox and Vivienne just three and a half months ago. (btw, how good does she look already?) She smiled cryptically and quietly said, “Yeah.”

“Come on! ‘Yeah.’ Yeah, period?” Matt laughed, prodding her further. “Is it something you’d do soon?”

Michael Phelps: I'm Just Exhausted

Monday August 18, 2008
Matt Lauer sat down with the real American Hero this morning on the Today Show. Not GI Joe, Michael Phelps, who said he is simply exhausted. Does he also know he is simply our new Baby Daddy? Is there anything sexier than a man verging on the superhuman who achieved the seemingly impossible? Nope.

Christian Bale Today Show Interview

Monday July 14, 2008
Christian Bale sat down with Matt Lauer (who proved once again what an outstanding interviewer he is) on The Today Show this morning to discuss The Dark Knight (which we're seeing tonight and can't freakin' wait for), Heath Ledger and why he chose to stand 110 stories in the air on top of the Sears Tower.
F. Gary Gray's latest effort, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is a knockout! Exhilirating, wry and breathcatchingly paced, it's a stellar accomplishment for everyone involved. Hell yeah you should see it!

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
