Basketball star Shaquille O'Neal is going head-to-head with Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and Wimbledon champ Serena Williams, trying to beat them at their own sport.
The 7-ft.-1-in. player is filming a new reality TV series, in which he faces off with other sports stars, taking a crash-course in his opponent's field before they compete.
Called Shaq Vs. the show will feature boxer Oscar de la Hoya, baseball star Albert Pujols and Olympic volleyball gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor, in addition to Phelps and Williams.
Dancing with the Stars pros, Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy spent Tuesday afternoon shopping together in Beverly Hills. Now that Maks’ partner Misty May-Treanor is out due to a ruptured Achilles Heel and Karina’s partner Rocco DiSpirito has been sent packing (just the memory of his white boy mambo sends chills down our spine), these two have nothing but time to spend together.
Karina looks so happy!
Awww, they’re totally in the horizontal tango honeymoon phase. Yay them.
Julianne Hough is the latest victim of the Dancing with the Stars curse.
The two-time Dancing champ was taken to hospital after filming last night’s elimination show and performing an encore of her jitterbug with Cody Linley.
Hough had been complaining of stomach pains all day and they only got worse after her performance.
Dancing can be hazardous to your health.
Dancing with the Stars has been a rough place to compete this year. During the first week, Jeffrey Ross suffered a scratched cornea thanks to his partner Edyta Sliwinska’s acrylic nails and Karina Smirnoff twisted her ankle while practicing with Rocco DiSpirito. During the third week, Derek Hough tripped and knocked himself momentarily unconscious the day after Misty-May Treanor ruptured her Achilles Tendon, forcing her to drop out of the competition for surgery and physical rehabilitation.
A day after being forced to drop out of Dancing with the Stars due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, Misty May-Treanor is at home with her husband, Matt, recovering from successful surgery.
The show began with a dance in honor of Misty May-Treanor. The routine that sent her into surgery yesterday was performed by Maksim and Edetya. When you watch two of the pros together, it’s such a heavy reminder of just how bad some of these “stars” are. With Maks and Edetya, there are no moments of nail-biting, “Will they pull this off?”; It’s just two minutes of pure entertainment.
Brooke and Derek are the first couple declared safe (duh), followed by Cloris and Corky (WHAT? Sympathy votes should only go so far).
Susan Lucci and Tony Diavolini kick off the night with a jive so tight and controlled, it was like Susan was clenching something between her butt cheeks. We know she’s a soap actress and realism isn't their thing, but she’s so plasticized and stiff, it’s hard to watch. The judges called her “timid,” we call her boring. Tony did all the work. They score a 21 but we’re not impressed and don’t think Susan is long for this show.
According to Brooke Burke, Misty May-Treanor has been forced to pull out of Dancing with the Stars due to an Achilles tendon injury.
“Forget about the competition,” Burke told 104.3 MY FM’s Valentine in the Morning. “This is her jumping mechanism, so we’re all really concerned for her. She may be having surgery this week. We don’t know yet. But it’s such a bummer.”
This sucks. Misty could’ve gone far in the competition. We just pray this doesn’t mean that Kim Kardashian gets to come back!
Misty May-Treanor might have suffered a career ending injury…luckily it’s only her dancing career, she’ll still be able to reign supreme on the volleyball court.
There are conflicting reports as to what the injury is and how severe but it has been but ABC has confirmed that she was injured during rehearsal on Friday and will be reevaluated on Monday to determine if she can still participate on Dancing with the Stars.
Last night’s hour of waiting kicked off with Warren and Kym performing an encore of their dramatic, Matrix-inspired paso doble followed by the Stars of Dance number featuring Pussycall Doll Carmit Bachar, one of the most bangin' trannies ever, and newly engaged, Step Up star Jenna Dewan. As much as we’d love to hate on Jenna, the truth is she is a marvelous dancer with such beautiful movement you can ignore the butt-her face.
