Bebe Neuwirth, best known for playing Lillith, Frasier Crane’s uptight, black turtleneck favoring, ex-wife on Cheers and Frasier, has tied the knot with Chris Calkins, founder of Napa Valley’s Destino vineyard.
Neuwirth, 50, and Calkins exchanged vows in front of roughly 80 guests at the Players Club in Manhattan’s Gramercy Park, with their friend Peter Coyote presiding over the Buddhist/Christian ceremony.
John Goodman, David Strathairn and Nathan Lane are heading to Broadway in a new mounting of Samuel Beckett’s famous play Waiting For Godot.
That’s almost too much talent for one stage to hold!
While they’re performing in New York, Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart will be performing the same play across the pond in London.
Apparently, insanely talented minds think alike.
The Goodman, Strathairn, Lane version premieres at New York’s Studio 54 on April 30th.
Oliver Platt is returning to Broadway as Nathan Detroit in the 2009 revival of Guys and Dolls. Platt made his New York stage debut in 2006's Shining City, which earned him a nomination for the Best Actor Tony Award.
Platt is stepping into the role Frank Sinatra famously played alongside Marlon Brando in the 1955 movie.
The musical last appeared on Broadway in 1992 with Nathan Lane in Platt’s role, and is scheduled to begin previews on February 3rd at the Nederlander Theatre, the former home to Rent and it’s 12 year run.
Swing Vote is like that one annoying friend who always needs rides to the airport or wants to borrow money. It doesn’t know when to stop asking for favors from the audience, requiring you to suspend your disbelief for two exhaustively long hours and try to believe that an American presidential election could be decided by one vote. Oooookay. The film is all glossy Americana, all the time, even trying to give a trailer park the Michael Bay treatment, making it look sexy, golden and wind blown.
Classic musical Guys and Dolls is being revived on Broadway in 2009, after a 17-year hiatus.
Anne Hathaway (as Sarah Brown) and Debra Messing (as Miss Adelaide) have been tipped to take on lead roles in the new production. Great casting. They are both perfect!
The musical is based on Damon Runyon's book The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown, which was made into a musical and a 1955 movie starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.
