Conan O'Brien is getting quite the severance package from NBC: $45 million worth actually. (Of that, $12 million goes toward taking care of his staff.)
His last day hosting The Tonight Show will be on Friday, where his guests will be Tom Hanks and Will Ferrell. Jay Leno will take over again on March 1st, after the show come back form its Olympic break.
With all of the drama surrounding NBC's late-night schedule, we knew at least a few celebrities would take shots at the network during the Golden Globes.
Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Tina Fey all wasted no time in taking jabs at NBC during the network's red carpet coverage.
After days of tumult over at NBC, and lots of speculation, Conan O'Brien has decided to quit his job at The Tonight Show.
He sent out a very articulate and eloquent statement that said as much. The show was being moved to 12:05 to make wasy for Jay Leno at 11:35. O'Brien thought this was a huge problem.
Ever since we heard that Maura Tierney wouldn't be able to star on Parenthood because of her cancer treatments (hope you're doing okay, Maura!), we've been wondering who they could possibly get to replace her. She's pretty great, so they would need to find someone pretty great to fill that hole.
First the rumor was Helen Hunt, and we were pretty eh about that.
Don't ever count Jay Leno out. After he was rather unceremoniously dumped from his job as host of The Tonight Show and replaced by Conan O'Brien, we all just thought he'd go back to collecting cars, shining his chin, or doing whatever it is he does when he's not on television. Instead his new primetime show on NBC debuted last night to huge numbers.
We were a little perplexed when NBC pushed back Parenthood, one of it's most promising new series to the mid-season, until we heard the reason. Maura Tierney, who we loved on ER and Newsradio, was undergoing surgery for breast cancer, and the show was waiting for her. It's sad today to find out that she won't be continuing on the show due to her treatments.
NBC is taking on the groundbreaking UK drama series Prime Suspect.
We love stealing from the British don’t we?! (Can you say, "The Office"?)
Lynda La Plante created the original drama series, which aired from 1991-2006, and was positively received because it featured a woman as head of a murder squad. Critics also praised the drama for its realistic portrayal of a police unit.
What's that noise? We believe it's the sound of men across America openly weeping.
Jaime Pressly, 32, star of the NBC show My Name is Earl, is officially off the market. Her fiance, entertainment lawyer Simran Singh, popped the question earlier this month.
Let's hope the second time's a charm for Jaime. She was previously engaged to DJ Eric Calvo, the father of their daughter, Dezi, from 2006 to 2008, before breaking things off.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
Maura Tierney, 44, will undergo surgery for a breast tumor.
The actress who made her name on NBC’s ER as Abby Lockheart spoke out in a press release from NBC Universal announcing that Tierney was ill and that her treatment would delay the production of her new series, Parenthood, previously scheduled to premiere Sept. 23, but now pushed to mid-season.
You know things have gotten bad when you're being put in the same catagory as Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt.
Stephen Baldwin has quit NBC's I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! despite the fact that he was considered a front-runner.
They're dropping like flies in the Costa Rican jungle. Baldwin is the fourth cast member to leave the show early.
But where's he going to go now that his house is being auctioned off?
