Spider-man 4 was already facing delays from its expected 2011 release because of script issues, but now the studio has announced it's not happening at all. So if you were looking forward to seeing Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst back on screen together, you're out of luck.
What they're doing instead is rebooting the franchise and starting out when Spider-man was a teenager with all new actors.
Looks like Sony is trying to pack the fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise with as much star power as possible.
The studio is apparently considering Anne Hathaway for the role of Black Cat in Spider-Man 4. These rumors come just one week after word that Rachel McAdams is up for the same part.
Whoever gets the part, there's definite potential for a spin-off series based on the role. May the best actress win!
Following the news that Spider-Man 4 will be released in 2011, Disney has announced that Tron Legacy will hit both theaters and Imax screens on December 17, 2010.
Tron Legacy, a sequel the classic 1982 sci-fi film Tron, will be the third of five films released by Disney simultaneously in a regular and 3D format.
All we know is Tron was a very important part of our 3AM movie-watching routine during college, so they better not mess this up.
Mark your calendar Spider-Man fans!
Spider-Man 4 is scheduled to be released on May 5th, 2011.
The first three films grossed over $2.5 billion at the box office worldwide. So of course there will be a fourth installment.

Kirsten Dunst is playing hard to get.
The fourth installment of the Spider-Man franchise is gearing up and Tobey Maguire has already signed on for a fourth and fifth film, but The Fang isn’t sure she wants to reprise the role of Mary Jane Watson.
Director Sam Raimi says, “I’m hoping that she is going to come on board and I’ve got a meeting coming up with her. I think she would like to but I don’t want to speak on her behalf.”
