Just when we thought the Kanye West-Taylor Swift-VMAs drama was dying down, another celebrity has chosen to weigh in.

Now that we got our Kanye rant out of the way, we can talk about the good parts of MTV's Video Music Awards last night, and there were a lot!

Why is Kanye West such an idiot? We really can't begin to answer that question, but last night at MTV's Video Music Awards he brought out his antics to a new low.

MTV appears to be smitten with hosts imported from the UK. Alexa Chung moved across the pond to host It's On during weekdays, and now Russell Brand has been invited to host the Video Music Awards again, making him the first to do so two consecutive years.

Last year, the controversial comedian raised a big ol' hoopla by repeatedly making jabs at the Jonas Brothers and mocking their purity rings.

This morning, Britney Spears celebrated her 27th birthday by returning in full force with a performance of her new single "Womanizer" (which we love thanks to the Chuck Bass Gossip Girl ads) on Good Morning America.

Happy birthday to her!

It was almost Brit Brit of old, complete with pyrotechnics, butt cheek exposing hot pants and several inches of bare midriff.

Continuing her road to redemption, Britney Spears is reportedly preparing for a surprise performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday.

It better be more exciting than her semi-surprise appearance to open this year’s super sucky VMAs.

“They have these surprises that 75 people on the crew know about, but they won’t tell the host," said Jimmy Kimmel, the show's host. "Apparently, there is some big surprise.  I sent ... the producer an e-mail yesterday and he was like, ‘I can’t tell you.’”

F. Gary Gray's latest effort, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is a knockout! Exhilirating, wry and breathcatchingly paced, it's a stellar accomplishment for everyone involved. Hell yeah you should see it!

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
