Peter Gabriel wants it all to be about Peter Gabriel.

The British singer, 59, is nominated with Thomas Newman for their song "Down To Earth" from the movie WALL-E. Gabriel has pulled out of the performance, protesting that, as per one of the changes for this year's ceremony, the Best Original Song nominees will combine to make a medley rather than getting to perform their pieces in their entirety.

The 14th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards were handed out last night and the big winner of the night was Slumdog Millionaire (holla!!!), taking home to prize for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Young Actor.

Anne Hathaway was given a major honor as well, by being honored alongside Meryl Streep, the greatest actress of our time, who Hathaway “tied with” in the Best Actress category.

We’re starting to think Hathaway’s performance in Rachel Getting Married is a pretty sure bet in the Oscar pool.

Breaking from other critics associations who have announced their choices for this year’s cream of the crop, the New York Film Critics bestowed the honor of Best Supporting Actor on…NOT HEATH LEDGER!

Thank God someone is dodging the sentimentality bullet!

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association announced their picks for this year’s best last night. Heath Ledger continued his sweep, which will undoubtedly lead all the way to the Oscars, while Sean Penn edged out PR darling (though far inferior competitor) Mickey Rourke, and Danny Boyle sailed along on his well-deserved road of triumph.

The LAFCA winners included…

According to Variety, Angelina Jolie’s action thriller Wanted scored the best opening ever for an R-rated film released in June and the 6th best opening of all time for any R-rated pic.

The film, which also stars James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman, placed No. 2 at the box office this past weekend behind Pixar’s Wall-E.

Wanted is fan-freakin-tastic.

American Idol runner-up David Archuleta attends the premiere of Pixar’s Wall-E (which looks so good!) and gives the little ladies something to squeal about.

David is smart to keep it young and try to stay in the hearts and minds of the pre-teens who loved him so rabidly last season. If he’s smart, he’ll try to get himself a Disney or Nickelodeon show with a tie-in album.

It worked for Miley; it could work for Archuleta.

F. Gary Gray's latest effort, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler, is a knockout! Exhilirating, wry and breathcatchingly paced, it's a stellar accomplishment for everyone involved. Hell yeah you should see it!

Scott Hicks, the director of Shine, and Clive Owen teamed up for this gloriously beautiful if underwhelming project. It's not that it's bad, it's just not that memorable and with such supreme talent attached, I was hoping for and expecting a lot more.

Oh, Diablo Cody, why'd you have to do it? I love you so long...and then you made this. Megan Fox does what she always does, she looks hot. At least there's that. Sophmoric, unfunny and obsessively idiosyncratic, it's a painful movie going experience.

Chocolate and peanut butter. Spaghetti and meatballs. Bobcat Goldthwait and profanity. Two great tastes that taste great together. Gone is the Bobcat of the Police Academy movies and in his stead is a fantastic writer-director who's able to orchestrate the most brilliantly, hilarious vulgarity imaginable. World's Greatest Dad is a fantastic dark comedy (very dark) that features Robin Williams' best performance since Good Will Hunting. See it!
